Rubber stamping crueltyJMJ February 12,2011 We have learned this week that if there is a dispute between public housing authorities ie: La Ronge Housing Authority and a Tenant , the tenant no longer has access to the Rentalsman Office. We have been justly critical how the government can be the most abusive landlord and never has to face the consequences that a private landlord has to face. Now we discover we don’t even have access to appeals under the Rentalsmen office. SaskHousing Corporation can beat up people in -house and no one has to do a thing about it. This week we will be going to meet with some of those people. The horror of what they are doing to another Brabant Lake family brings back all the horror that we experienced for ten years. We are determined that no family has to suffer what we suffered. There are people who risked their house and family to help us. We want to be as brave and loyal as those people, some of whom are very young and very vulnerable. We call on other people in other communities to rally around households who are attacked by people such as Vaughn Skogstad . Don’t turn your back. Don’t pretend it isn’t happening. Stand firm and encourage others to stand firm. No tin pot dictator in a La Ronge Office is going to determine who is going to live and who is not going to live in our communities. There has been no changes in personnel or policy in La Ronge or Prince Albert SHC offices as far as we can see. We would be happy to be proven wrong.. Rather than clean up the mess that our experience exposed there seems to be a desire to make sure the tenant has less rights. We have in writing that John and I are to be the advocates in this household’s case. They will not respect that. They insist on dealing with the tenant directly. The tenant gets upset, the family gets terrorised. Everyone is in fear and in anger. This is abusive. You ‘ve heard or made complaints how families don’t stick to a house or community. Their children are at school and gone the next day. Perhaps it’s time to put the blame where it belongs. Why put down roots, make a commitment to a job, a school, a church group , or a community if the next day someone can order you out of your house?. Why make repairs, plant gardens and tidy up your yard if it never can be your yard, your house? The most astounding thing is how Southerners ( PA and south) are quite willing to believe some bureaucrat who has been proven to be a liar over and over. Mr. Skogstad told Wanda Novakoski of SHC that a person’s rent has been at the maximum for a year ($760 monthly). On the eviction notice Skogstad states the rent at $590/ monthly with $ 1500 arrears. These arrears are from the arbitrary rent increase applied retroactively. Then last week Skogstad sent a letter that the rent was now $760. When Wanda talked to the house hold, we thought good, finally she will hear the other side. Rather she told them that the rent was $760 and had always been that. We have his pay sheets and we know who pays him. His rent at the maximum should be $500. At the reasonable level his house should be designated affordable housing with a rent to own clause with rent at $200., monthly. There are about five empty houses in this little village. Why is it better to have empty houses than families living in a home. There is no sense economically or socially for the present regime. Why can one person arbitrarily decide rent and eviction because of his personal likes and dislikes? Why do civil servants automatically believe people like Skogstad. The corruption of the North would have ended long ago except Southeners rubber stamp the cruelty of thugs with access to publi property. Gay
