“A man does what he must – in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality.” – John F. Kennedy

“Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.” – Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

Same-sex marriage – ramifications

· Health damaging consequences
· Risk of health damage to heterosexual couples due to acceptance of homosexual             practices
· Increasing load on healthcare services
· Increased cost of healthcare
· Increased cost to taxpayers to cover the healthcare system expenses

Question: Would approval of homosexual practices or same sex marriage have any harmful consequences for the participants?

Answer: YES. An official approval of same sex marriage is the equivalent to approval of homosexual sex practices. Such an approval is tantamount to endorsing an immune suppressive lifestyle which can drastically reduces lifespan, often by 20-30 years. Suppression of the immune system caused by homosexual sex practices leads to an increased risk of certain cancers and infections including so called opportunistic infections which do not cause in individuals with normally functioning immune systems any symptoms.

Suppression of the immune system also dramatically increases the risk of developing and eventually dying from AIDS. In the past, the lifespan of homosexuals was around age 39 (based on obituaries from available homosexual magazines). Today, in the AIDS era, the lifespan of homosexual males with AIDS is still much shorter than that of non-homosexual and non-bisexual AIDS patients. The reason for this discrepancy in the lifespan of these AIDS patients is that the immune systems of homosexuals are usually already suppressed before any contact with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the cause of AIDS.

A Quebec study reveals that homosexual males who contracted HIV develop AIDS and die from it about 1000-2000 times more frequently than HIV positive heterosexual males.*

Even those homosexuals who have never had contact with HIV infection, who live in a strictly monogamous relationship and have no history of any sexually transmitted infections (STI, previously called sexually transmitted diseases – STD) are still exposed to immune system suppression triggered by homosexual sex practices, especially by anal intercourse and exposure to sperm.

Health damage caused by anal intercourse
Anal intercourse is especially dangerous for the passive partner because of the vulnerability of the rectal wall to any mechanical stress. The rectal wall is completely different from the vaginal wall. The rectal wall is very thin. It is composed from only one layer of the cells and therefore it is very vulnerable to mechanical pressure. The vagina is biologically designed to stretch during childbirth and therefore is extremely resistant to mechanical stress.

The vulnerability of the rectal wall is illustrated by the well known fact that an impacted stool can lead to a rupture of the rectal wall. Anal intercourse leads to the creation of abrasions of the rectal wall in the passive partner, allowing E.coli and other bacteria, viruses, parasites and various components of stool to penetrate into the deeper levels of the body tissues. This subsequently leads to the suppression of the immune system even in those who have never been exposed to HIV infection.

Another danger of anal intercourse is that sperm, a carrier of life, an extremely potent biological substance, triggers immune problems with all additional ramifications when it enters the body through routes other than vagina.

Question: Would the approval of homosexual practices or same-sex marriage have any harmful consequences for society?

Answer: YES. The official acceptance and endorsement of homosexual practices and/or same-sex marriage (in other words “marriage” as a sexual union with homosexual sex practices) by government infers that there are no negative consequences for the involved individuals and/or society. Such an endorsement would encourage the acceptance of homosexual practices as safe by the heterosexual society, especially by teenagers and young heterosexual couples who might experiment with such activities. However, homosexual sex practices tend to suppress the immune system even if practiced by HIV negative heterosexual couples.

It is estimated that in Canada, treatment of an AIDS patient presently* costs the healthcare system approximately $100,000 per year. As mentioned previously on p.1, AIDS affects homosexual males about one thousand to two thousand times more frequently because their immune systems are usually weakened by their sexual practices even before coming in contact with the HIV infection.

Due to AIDS and other inherent health risks (p. 6) caused by homosexual practices, a heavy load and financial burden is placed on our already strained healthcare system, and therefore, also upon the Canadian tax payer.

Deliberate suppression of negative health consequences of homosexual practices

In May 1996 during a debate related to homosexual issues, Grant Hill, M.D., M.P., warned the Canadian Parliament that homosexual sex practices are unhealthy. He was immediately very harshly attacked by media for ‘misusing his power as a Member of Parliament and as a physician’. The administrators (not physicians) of the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons firmly and publicly stated, without providing any study supporting such claim, that there is no evidence that homosexual sex practices are unhealthy.

This widespread extremely negative coverage of Dr. Hill’s case by the media and the introduction of exceptionally heavy financial penalizing of anything deemed homophobic effectively silenced any possible additional objections from the medical community or other experts.

Increased incidence of health problems in homosexual males

The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) has been established by homosexual and lesbian physicians. In August 2002, GLMA released results of their survey of their male members’ health status. GLMA president Christopher E. Harris MD and Vincent M. B. Silenzio, M.D. M.P.H. documented that homosexual males are much more prone to develop various health problems including certain types of cancer. Apart from the rare types of cancer such as cancer of the tongue, the homosexual males are also much more prone to develop commonly appearing malignancies especially cancer of colon, rectum, testicle and prostate than heterosexual males.

Based on the results of their survey, GLMA published a special information sheet for their members, advising them to bring it to their physicians to let them know what kind of cancer, rarely appearing diseases and other health problems they should be checked for. Many health problems, such as infection by Cryptosporidium, are extremely rare or even unknown in heterosexual individuals with healthy immune systems.

As mentioned previously (p.1) even AIDS appears mainly in homosexual males because of their tendencies to have suppressed immune systems already before any contact with HIV infection.

Additionally, in the last few years because of the increased belief by many HIV patients that AIDS is curable, there has been a resurgence of many sexual practices which compromise the immune system, such as group sex. This behavior further increases the risk of contracting HIV infection, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Rejection of same-sex marriage by a silent homosexual majority

John McKeller, gay activist and founder and executive director of the Canadian homosexual interest group, HOPE, stated in the Calgary Herald on June 20th, 2003, “It is selfish and rude for the gay community to push for same sex marriage legislation and redefine society’s traditions and conventions simply for our self-indulgence.” He also said that the organization is in agreement with the Alberta provincial government’s opposition to sanctioned same sex marriage.

McKeller also stated that only 2-4% of the Canadian population is gay or lesbian despite the popular belief that the figure is as high as 10%, and that within the 2-4% minority, less than 1% are interested in same sex marriage or even domestic partnership. He is also opposed to adoption of children by homosexual couples.

In his wordsIntroducing kindergarten and grade one students to alternative behaviours and lifestyles is psychological pedophilia. You don’t have to engage solely in physical contact to molest a child. You can`t diddle with their minds and their emotions. Just leave the kids alone and let them enjoy their short period of innocence and sexual latency.

He also stated that, By far, the scariest and most insidious corollary to same-sex marriage is same-sex adoption. This is blatant child abuse. Children need a biological mother and father. We know this is not always possible but we do not want to augment the situation. Children are not meant to be guinea pigs for social engineering.”

Conclusion

Traditionally, the Bible has been considered as the authority which determines what is moral and what is immoral. Recently, there has been an increasing tendency to accept a false belief that in our modern society moral values are no longer something immutable but become instead subjective and situational. We, as the modern society, have practically forgotten that the true meaning of the word moral means the behavior which does not harm another person or oneself, and the word immoral, the behavior which causes harm to another person or oneself.

In accepting the erroneous belief that moral values are changeable, our modern society is convinced that it knows better what we should or should not do. This has, and will, continue to lead us to tragic consequences. We can see these consequences in the growing incidence of AIDS and many other sexually-transmitted diseases.

men.
The acknowledgment of same sex marriage is being interpreted by many heterosexual couples, especially younger ones, as a green light for experimentation with homosexual sex practices as a safe modality. The endorsement of homosexual practices and same-sex marriages by Church may lead, in the future to lawsuits against those approving the lifestyle leading to health damage and a risk of premature death. It may be expected that the consequences of the litigation may be even more severe than those related to HIV or hepatitis C contaminated blood because of the sheer number of people whose health may be negatively affected by accepting homosexual practices as a ‘safe modality’.

In his publication “The Health Risks of Gay Sex,” Dr. John R. Diggs Jr., an internist, wrote,
“As a physician, it is my duty to assess behaviours for their impact on health and well-being. When something is beneficial, such as exercise, good nutrition or adequate sleep, it is my duty to recommend it. Likewise, when something is harmful, such as smoking, overeating, alcohol or drug abuse, it is my duty to discourage it. As a physician, it is my duty to inform patients of the health risks of homosexual sex and to discourage them from indulging in harmful behaviours.”

Note: The attached presentation Homosexuality, Same-Sex Marriage, Ramifications” was sent originally to the Synod of Anglican Bishops in Winnipeg, 2007. It was expected that the Synod will approve homosexuality. However, ultimately the bishops decided to cancel the blessings of same-sex marriages by their ministers and announced moratorium on such activity.

The letter was also sent to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, in summer 2008 during their World Synod in UK. The Archbishop known for his approval of homosexuality expressed in his letter thanks for medical explanation of the consequences of homosexuality. Similarly, as in Winnipeg, the Synod decided to endorse moratorium on the same-sex marriages.
